Important disclaimer: None of this tastes as good as being healthy feels.
Check out the 20 things I love about the paleo diet, too, at the end of the post. What is on your list of things you miss and things you don't? What has improved in your life? Is it worth throwing away for a cinnabon?
TWENTY THINGS I MISS ON THE PALEO DIET:
1. Beans and Cornbread
2. 7 Layer Dip
3. Cheese Parties, but especially blue cheese
4. Grabbing a peppermint on the way out of a restaurant

17. Not having to look like a prick at a restaurant with my special requests.
18. Falafel
19. My house not smelling like fresh baked cookies
20. Having clothes that fit.
TWENTY THINGS I LOVE ABOUT BEING ON THE PALEO DIET:
1. Having to buy new clothes because all my old ones are falling off.
2. Eating steak for breakfast (lunch and dinner).
3. When the cashier at the grocery store praises my purchase.
4. Having energy
5. Butter
6. Avocado
7. Salmon
8. Charcuterie
9. Eating enough protein and having the endurance to (finally) build muscle. What do you think about girls with muscles? Is strong the new sexy?

14. Not having to pay for a diet plan. (Weight Watchers, Jenny, Nutrisystem..) Ever notice that no one is selling paleo?
15. Knowing what my body needs. When you get eliminate all the junk, your body tells you what it needs, when you're really hungry, when you aren't.
16. Black Coffee (who knew?)
17. Tuna Salad, Chicken Salad, Egg Salad, Ham Salad (Any protein + Mayonnaise)

20. Sushi with no rice.
Leave me a comment with your list! I'd love to hear what you miss and what you love.
I miss my baking. I love making bread, pies, cakes, etc. And there is nothing better than a warm piece of bread with butter, homemade strawberry jam and a cup of coffee.
ReplyDeleteBut I am down 50 lbs since January, and nothing does feel better than having to buy smaller clothes and the added benefit of feeling great. I still have my moments of weakness, but I am getting there. I follow Primal rather than strict Paleo, but the effect has been the same. Just found your blog. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Agreed -- Baking is super comforting and I miss it too.
Delete2 months on Paleo and I've lost 40 pounds, just today I'm wearing a pair of jeans 4 size smaller than what I used 2 months ago. I love what I eat, to create new recipes and most of all I feel healthy and with lots of energy.
ReplyDeleteamen and congratulations! That's awesome!
DeleteI used to bake all of the time!! While I do miss that, I am so much happier cooking food that I know is better for me. Breakfast, lunch, dinner....I love the new things that eating Paleo has gotten me to try.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am the same weight that I was 8 months ago, I am down a couple of pant sizes, I've been able to drop all of the prescription meds I was taking (for asthma, allergies, and IBS). I don't feel the daily nausea I always had after eating something with dairy or gluten in it. LOVE how I feel now!!
